Service Information
Athens is the capital of Greece and is its largest city. And it is here where our partner’s headquarters is based. Greece has been through the mill in recent years, and the general mood has been one of ‘crisis – crisis’. However, our Greek partners are determined to shrug this off and are actively working closely with us to develop our road freight transport services to and from Athens and Thessalonica.
Our freight service to and from Athens
Despite the financial difficulties associated with the Greek market, we have worked tirelessly with our partners to ensure that our service not only remained stable, but continued to grow. Being able to open up the carriage of dangerous goods, which we couldn’t before, has greatly assisted this growth.
This does present its own difficulties though, in that in many cases the ferry route through Italy is primarily tourist based, so there are some restrictions on dangerous goods. The alternative of driving through Eastern Europe arrives a day later, but still in line with our competitors. We use both options to maximise service vs. transit time.
- We operate a minimum twice weekly service every Tuesday and Friday, both export to Athens and import from Athens. Our transit time is 4-5 working days from depot to depot, a Tuesday export arriving Athens the following Monday, and a Friday departure arriving the following Wednesday/Thursday
- We also transport dangerous goods to and from Athens in full scope of ADR and IMDG.
- From Athens our partners can make local deliveries more often on the same day of arrival if the trailers arrive in the morning
From Athens, we can also provide freight services to the Greek Islands such as Crete, Rhodes, Corfu and Kos, to name a few.
And moreover, our partners also provide a service to Cyprus, served from the freight terminal in Lavrios, just outside the main sea port of Piraeus.
