Service Information
Milan is the main industrial, commercial, and financial centre of Italy. It is the second-most populous city in Italy and the capital of Lombardy. It is said that ‘All roads lead to Rome’, and whilst this may have been true in Roman times, Milan is now the freight distribution hub of Italy.
It is also home to the majestic Il Duomo situated in the centre of Milan, and the church Santa Maria delle Grazie, the latter which houses the mural of Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Last Supper’.
Our freight service to Milan & Varese
From Milan we can provide national distribution throughout Italy, with varying transit times and frequency depending on the distance. In general, from Milan, we can provide next day transport services to and from the neighbouring provinces of Bergamo, Como, Lecco, Lodi, Monza and Brianza, Pavia, Varese and Novara. The slightly farther provinces of Brescia, Turin, Genoa and Asti, to name a few, can occasionally take an extra day depending on what time during the day the consignment is booked.
- Our road freight service to and from Milan is direct and (almost) daily. Transit times vary between 2-3 days between UK and Milan hubs
- All departure can carry dangerous goods in scope of ADR/IMDG
- We can also provide temperature controlled transport, including chemicals also requiring such control
- Express dedicated transport services are available on request with transit times of 26-36 hours when normal service isn’t fast enough
Freight between the UK and Milan is rarely problematic, and as such it is a very competitive market. It is true that many other companies can provide similar services, though we believe that our extensive experience on the Italian market, supported by consistent praise from our clients, makes us the preferred choice of carrier. We pride ourselves on providing a high level of service which consistently meets our clients’ demands.
Our partner in Milan (well, sort of)
Well, not strictly true anymore, as in December 2018 our partner ITX Cargo moved from their location just off Viale Certosa in Milan to a new custom built facility in Origgio in the province of Varese, just a few miles north of the Milan tangenziale.
At a cost exceeding €4.5 million, it comprises 17 loading bays, 3,000 m² of warehousing, 1,000 m² of offices on three floors, contained in an area of 16,500 m². This exciting new venture for our Italian partners will enhance service, enable growth and provide a future-proof platform for many years to come.
