Service Information

An autonomous region of Italy, Sardinia is the second largest island of the Mediterranean. It sits west of Naples and the Amalfi coast, and south of the French island of Corsica. From mainland Italy, access is via sea ferry from Genoa to Porto Torres, Livorno to Olbia, and Naples to Cagliari, the island’s capital.

The town of Alghero has some interesting historical facts in that it has two languages – a dialect of Catalan (Spanish from Catalunya), and Italian. This arose because between the mid-14th century until 1716 it was ruled under the Crown of Aragon when it was signed back over to Italy in 1720 following the war of the Spanish Succession.

Less than 40km south east of Alghero is the the Commune of Monteleone Roca Doria. An ‘Italian job’ style drive to this commune presents a majestic view across the Lago del Temo.

Our freight service to Sardinia

Our road freight services to and from Italy also include Sardinia which is controlled via our Italian partners from their new facility in Origgio, Varese, just north of Milan.

Important to note

Many areas of Sardinia are difficult to access due to its mountainous interior and rugged landscape, so once you go off the beaten track, limitations on the size of vehicular access can start to become costly.

John, Rebecca is a credit to the Company. She very quickly gained an understanding of our needs and her quick responses to the flow of information is vital, something we have been looking for from a forwarder. I have been very impressed with her attention to detail, response times and overall service. Well done!
