Service Information
Verona is, for some, synonymous with William Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’, a story that historically predates Shakespeare himself. It is also the home of the ‘Arena di Verona’, a Roman amphitheatre in Piazza Bra built in the 1st century, and is internationally famous for the large scale opera performances given there.
For us, however, Verona is where our Italian partner has its second office and warehouse serving the whole Veneto region, and the majority of Emilia-Romagna.
This area of Italy is extremely important as the products manufactured here are more diverse; commodities like shoes, furniture, lighting, electrical appliances and machinery by way of example. The industrial sector has a highly specialised and competitive manufacturing base, mostly comprised of SMEs. According to Unioncamere Veneto data, in the 2nd quarter of 2018 the region had almost 486,000 registered companies.
Our freight service to Verona
From Verona, we can collect and deliver to and from the provinces of Verona, Vicenza, Padova, Udine, Treviso, Pordenone, Trento, Bolzano, Rovigo, and not forgetting the capital of the Veneto region, Venice, including the islands.
As for the Emilia-Romagna regions, we provide road freight transport services to and from the provinces of Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna, Ferrara, Forli-Cesena, Ravenna and Rimini.
- Our road freight service to and from Verona, like Milan, is also direct and again (almost) daily. Transit times vary between 2-3 days between UK and Verona hubs
- Whilst we can transport dangerous goods on most of the trailers serving this region, the North East of Italy is not quite as chemical based as Lombardy and Piedmont
- Express and dedicated services are always available for urgent goods
Apart from the associated islands around Venice, road freight transport between the UK and the North east of Italy is rarely problematic. Driving restrictions are perhaps the only real difficulty which is encountered with increasing annoyance, primarily as a result of often needing to traverse Austria and Germany where we find certain stowage regulations with regards to dangerous good are inconsistently applied. But that’s another story.
Our partner in Verona
Three years after ITX Cargo was founded, under the separate entity of ITX Cargo Veneto, our Italian partners opened their second office. That was in 2001 and by 2004 we had commenced direct services to and from Verona and the Veneto region, having previously handled everything through Milan.
This enabled slightly faster transit times, but most importantly, made for more competitive rates by being able to collect and deliver locally from Verona depot as opposed to the longer haul from Milan.
