Service Information
Ceuta & Melilla are both located on the north coast of Africa sharing borders with Morocco. Initially being part of the provinces of Cadiz and Malaga respectively, in March 1995, both were granted autonomy. Spain has nine such populated Spanish territories in Africa, and all are subject to irredentist claim by Morocco.
There are no direct services to Ceuta or Melilla and all cargo must undergo some form of transshipment.
Our freight services to Ceuta and Melilla
Via our twice weekly road freight groupage service to Madrid, our partners MZ Logistic will consolidate into box trailers which will be trunked to Algeciras for the onward journey by sea to Ceuta, and to Malaga for Melilla.
- We offer a twice-weekly road freight service via our Madrid partners, with a daily service thereafter to Ceuta and Melilla. Subject to customs clearance, an overall transit time of 6-9 day applies depending on departure day and commodity
Customs clearance is required for both these destinations and relevant documentation such as commercial invoices are required prior to sending from the UK. Whilst still possible, there are also restrictions in the shipping of dangerous goods and this needs to be checked thoroughly prior to sending from the UK.
Key tip
Any local duty/taxes are payable by the consignee. However please be aware that on many occasions costs are reverted back to the UK. Our team can assist with this arduous process.
