Service Information
The Balearics are a group of islands in the Mediterranean sea off the eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula and are renowned as a massive tourist location. The four largest islands for which we operate road freight services to are Majorca (Mallorca), Minorca (Mecorca), Ibiza & Formentera. Much of the business to these islands is seasonal, and with this in mind our services are more frequent during the peak season from May to October, and less frequent outside of this period.
Our freight service to the Balearics
Our road freight service to these islands is handled in conjunction with our road freight service to Barcelona. As there is no freight as such coming back from the islands, the majority of freight is handled from Barcelona by our partners M.C. Trinter S.A.. Freight which cannot be transshipped can deliver directly on trailer, but the trailers have to return to the mainland empty.
- We provide departures every Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday to Barcelona where on-carriage is arranged as above
- Direct deliveries on trailer to Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera can be arranged when cargo cannot be transshipped
- During peak season between May and October, we offer a daily service from Barcelona and a transit time UK to delivered of between 6-7 days
- Off peak, the service from Barcelona is alternate days resulting in a transit time from the UK to delivered of 7-8 days
As the islands are Spanish owned, and therefore part of the European Union, there are usually no customs formalities to undertake. This will, however, change post-Brexit.
Furthermore, as much of the merchandise transported consists of foodstuffs, clients wishing us to transport dangerous goods should allow an additional day or two in case of compatibility issues, particularly when transshipping from the mainland.
Key tip
The majority of companies in the Balearics do not own a fork lift truck so many deliveries need to be made with a tail lift vehicle equipped with a hand pump truck which can be provided at an additional cost. So it is worth making that additional check before dispatch.
