Situated 62 miles off the West Coast of Africa, the Canary Islands include (from largest to smallest): Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, La Graciosa, Alegranza, Isla de Lobos, Montana Clara, Roque del Este and Roque del Oeste. The capital of this autonomous community is shared by the cities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The Canaries are primary holiday destinations for British tourists. As such, business has a seasonal nature to it. Large quantities of British products are in great demand, much of which consists of typical British foodstuffs.
Our freight services to the Canary Islands
There are a couple of options available when arranging transport to the Canary islands. But bear in mind that whilst we are able to transport dangerous goods to the Canaries, compatibility with foodstuffs may occasionally result in a day or two’s delay for dangerous goods.
- By road freight to either Madrid, Barcelona or Valencia twice weekly every Tuesday and Friday (plus Wednesday to Barcelona) where the transit time from the UK to delivered, subject to customs clearance is between 6-7 days
- By Sea freight direct from the UK, closing every Wednesday and loading every Thursday consolidating in our Manchester depot, to Tenerife. Subject to customs clearance, the transit time is between 8-9 days
Our Partner in the Canary Islands
Our partner in the Canary Islands is Best Logistics Canarias, a young, dynamic and independent company, established in 2012. Located in Tenerife and Las Palmas, their facilities are wholly owned and are customs bonded. An extensive fleet of vehicles on hand provides for a fast and personalised distribution service for both groupage and full loads alike.
There are just a small handful of clearing agents in the Canaries, so whilst local VAT and Duty charges are usually payable by the consignee, with the assistance of our partners this can be arranged from the UK, at additional cost. For more information, visit their website.
