Intermodal
As the purse strings are continually stretched, and environmentalists continue to hack at our consciences, the need for a more cost-effective and greener transport method becomes increasingly necessary. And they do have a valid point which we should all listen to and respect. However, with every upside, there is invariably a downside.
Transit times for road/rail combinations are usually longer, and any cost savings are eaten away the further you stray from the rail hub. For cargoes which are not overly time sensitive, Intermodal transport is a workable option for many, particularly for full and large part loads. For groupage consignments however, the longer transit time usually presents the key obstacle, and cost savings are less attractive.
Notwithstanding this, we can provide Intermodal options when you need to squeeze the budget, and feel a little greener in doing so.
